On Thursday, June 13th at 10am, MANNA will celebrate an extraordinary milestone of preparing and home-delivering 23 million medically tailored meals to Greater Philadelphians experiencing critical illness. To commemorate this special occasion, MANNA’s CEO Sue Daugherty will be joined in the MANNA kitchen by PA State Representative Donna Bullock to package the 23 millionth meal alongside MANNA volunteers and staff. The celebration will conclude with the home-delivery of the 23 millionth meal by Sue Daugherty and Rep. Bullock to a MANNA client living within Representative Bullock’s 195th district.  
 
“We are so grateful to our dedicated community of generous supporters and volunteers over the last 34 years who helped make this milestone possible,” said MANNA CEO, Sue Daugherty. “Our mission at MANNA is not just to provide nourishing medically tailored meals to those suffering from critical illness who require nutrition to heal, but also to advocate for change to ensure these nutritious meals become a universally covered benefit under health insurance plans for all those who need them. Today, we celebrate 23 million meals served – a reminder of our continued commitment to nourishing our neighbors across Greater Philadelphia – and look forward to serving our next millionth.” 
 
MANNA was founded in 1990 at the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic to provide comfort meals to Philadelphians who were dying from the disease. Now, more than 34 years later, MANNA is a leader in evidence-based nutrition services delivering three meals a day, seven days a week and offering 11 different diet modifications to accommodate clients battling additional critical illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, renal disease, diabetes and more.
